Gujranwala: In view of the season of marriages, Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has decided to vigorously tax 2,000 marriage halls in Gujranwala division on their daily sales, a news source reported. The authority has begun strict monitoring of the marriage halls to tax them for each ceremony that is held in them and teams have been formed for the purpose.
According to details, there are around 2,000 marriage halls in six districts of Gujranwala. With the beginning of winter, hundreds of marriages are taking place in the division’s hundreds of marriage halls, marquees and hotels and PRA plans to tax these establishments on their daily sales.

The plan is also meant to help achieve PRA’s Sales Tax collection target. The revenue authorities have been making concerted efforts to improve their tax collection this year which have been behind target in some cases.
