Karachi: The Pakistan Railways (PR) administration on Wednesday revealed that it had restored the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) track from the city to the Shah Abdul Latif stations, a news source reported. The officials concerned stated that the department rehabilitated the 10-km-long section following the directives of the Supreme Court (SC) wherein it asked the authorities concerned to revive the KCR within a specified timeframe.

PR officials revealed that the restored section features a significant portion of the 14km-long track from Karachi to Orangi stations that they planned to revive during the first phase of the KCR project. They added that the second phase of the initiative would comprise construction of underpasses and flyovers in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nazimabad, and other localities.

Commenting on the restored portion of the KCR track, Project Director Ameer Muhammad Daudpota said that PR was progressing in a smooth manner.
