Gojra: Pakistan Railways (PR) on Tuesday (November 16) approved the construction of an underpass at Siraj Town in Gojra, news sources reported. The underpass will be built on Toba Tek Singh Road to facilitate traffic flow. As per the report, the local legislative member Bilal Asghar Warraich said that Railway Minister Azam Swati has approved the project after considering the problems of the locals.

The construction of the underpass will reduce travel time to the city and will also reduce fatal accidents that have claimed many lives over the years. Furthermore, Railways Lahore Division Operation Officer Chaudhry Muhammad Shabbir, Assistant Engineer Muhammad Shafiq, and Assistant Commissioner Gojra also visited the proposed site underpass site. The administration’s aid that the construction work on the project will start soon. In other news, Pakistan Railway (PR) has secured a deal with a Chinese Information Technology (IT) business to develop a cutting-edge advanced facial recognition and ticketing system.

The project will be built through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). According to the report, the Chinese business would operate the system for ten years under the Built Operation and Transfer (BoT) manner before handing it on to PR. The agreement is part of the Railway Automated Booking and Travel Assistance programme (RABTA).
