Islamabad: Pakistan Railways has earned PKR 905.59 million in revenue after it leased out its land to different organisations and individuals for a period of 33 years, a news source reported. The department is seeking PKR 11.287 billion in total revenue after the completion of the lease period, under which land has been leased out in 33 locations for fuel stations.
The land has been leased out in different divisions – including Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sukkur, Quetta, and Karachi. In Peshawar, the railways has generated PKR 90 million through the lease process in Mardan, Attock, and Kalpani. The total revenue generation is expected to be PKR 1,004.27 million.
In Rawalpindi Division, the land has been leased out in Sargodha, Islamabad, and Sara-e-Alamgir on GT Road, Jhelum and Bhalwal which will generate PKR 1049.05 million for the department. Pakistan Railways has so far earned PKR 154.96 million from the process.
In Lahore Division, the land has been leased out in Sialkot, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Bahawalnagar, and Shah Ismail, which will generate PKR 3122.73 million after completion of the lease period. Pakistan Railways has so far earned PKR 30.45 million.
The department has leased out land in Multan, Muzaffargarh and Bahawalnagar, under Multan Division, which will generate PKR 555 million. Pakistan Railways has so far earned PKR 54 million from the lease process.
In Sukkur Division, Pakistan Railways has leased out land at Sukkur, Shikarpur, at two locations in Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad which will generate a total of PKR 535.36 million for the department. The organisation has so far earned PKR 384.88 million from the lease.
In Quetta Division, Pakistan Railways has rented out its land for fuel stations in Quetta city which will generate a total PKR 153 million. The railways has so far earned PKR 33.34 million from the lease.
In Karachi Division, Pakistan Railways leased out its land in Hyderabad and eight different locations in Karachi which will generate a total PKR 4864.62 million for the department. The Pakistan Railways has so far received PKR 292.13 million from the process.
Pakistan Railways has also allotted its land to Army Welfare Trust at eight different locations in the country for setting up fuel stations on a 33-year lease, while Gas and Oil Company (Pvt) Limited has been allotted land at 10 different locations across the country.
