Karachi: The Pakistan Railways Karachi Division has removed encroachments from the Karachi Circular Railway track between City Station and Shah Latif, a news source reported. In the first phase, it cleared the 14-kilometre-long track, while the restoration and beautification work on nine stations is underway.

According to details, this marks a third milestone in clearing the track since, previously, the tracks from Karachi to Baldia and from Baldia to Shah Latif Station have already been cleared.
Pakistan Railways (PR) has plans to restore KCR in two phases and the federal government had allocated PKR 1.8 billion under public sector development programme for this purpose, after which PR was able to begin work on the restoration.

According to Project Director Ameer Daudpota, the work on clearing the tracks and railway stations in the first phase is ongoing at a quick pace. In the first phase, the track between Karachi City and Korangi Town will be cleared.
