Islamabad: The Pakistan Railways (PR) is collaborating with the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to initiate development work on various sections of the country’s rail network, according to a publication. To facilitate this measure, representatives from the two organizations will sign an agreement on March 19 at the Ministry of Railways.

‘This venture will not only enhance the train speed and reduce the journey time but also strengthen the national economy,’ according to advert publicized in national dailies. The said initiative is to develop the miles long rail network along modern lines.
The railways department has identified three sections for its rehabilitation program. The total cost of the project is over PKR 10 billion. The rail tracks are Samasatta-Amruka Section (total cost: PKR 7.735 billion), Dadu-Habibkot Section (total cost: PKR 2.438 billion), and Kundian-Attock City Section (total cost: 2.222 billion).

The rehabilitation of said track involves complete track renewal, conversion and repair of bridges, and overhaul of level crossings.
