Karachi: Pakistan Railways Divisional Superintendent (DS) Syed Mazhar Ali Shah has said that Pakistan Railways have successfully cleared around 28% of the total area needed to make space for Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) – a news source reported. Shah said this in a press conference in City Station on Thursday.
Detailing the operation, the DS said that soon after the Supreme Court’s orders on May, the railways officials met the commission Karachi to prepare for the operation. It was officially launched on May 15.

He further said that KCR will later be linked with the Karachi to Peshawar ML-1 project the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor [CPEC]. He felt that will transform the transportation system of the country as it will have a significant impact on urban transportation.
Shah also told the media during the conference that Pakistan Railways would be sharing briefings about daily developments about KCR and the bottlenecks faced in the task.
