Karachi: Port Qasim is to become the energy hub of the country, a news source quoted Port Qasim Authority Chairman Asad Rafi Chandna. He further added that this would happen with the establishment of more Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminals in the area, making it the transportation hub of coal and coal-fired power plants across the country.
Chandana made this statement while giving a briefing to the Federal Caretaker Minister for Maritime Affairs Abdullah Hussain Haroon. Hussain took a tour of Port Qasim where he also inaugurated the Green Port Initiative by planting a tree sapling. He also reviewed the coal handling facility at Marginal Wharfs 3 and 4 and was briefed on port terminal operations as well.
