Lahore: The second unit of Neelum-Jhelum hydroelectric power project started operating since 30th May 2018, according to a news report. This new unit will generate up to 185 megawatts of electricity during its trial period and then move towards its optimum 242.25 MW capacity.
As per obligations under contract, the second unit will also go through a reliability period. The entire project has a capacity of 969 MW and comprises of four generating units, each contributing 242.25 MW. The third unit of the project was initiated earlier and has been contributing 242.25 MW of electricity to the national grid. The entire project will be made functional by July this year.
