Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning & Development Asad Umar on Monday urged the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to Karachi, a news source reported. Umar gave the said directives while chairing a meeting of a sub-committee of the federal cabinet on energy affairs.

K-Electric (KE) officials informed the meeting about the recent power outages in the city. The planning minister stated that there should be clear assigning of responsibilities in order to provide continuous electricity supply to Karachi.
The meeting discussed the measures taken to balance the demand and supply of electric supply to Karachi’s business hub. Meanwhile, the KE CEO briefed the meeting about the measures taken by his company for overcoming the shortfall. The officials concerned stated that the energy ministry has been extending all possible assistance to the power supply company.

The meeting also constituted a committee under the supervision of the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Power Sector Shahzad Qasim. The committee will review the fuel supply measures to KE.
