Lahore: The Power Division has directed power companies, including the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), to disconnect power connections for 50 major defaulters that fall under their jurisdiction — a news source reported. As per the publication, Section Officer Distribution Companies (DISCOs) Muhammad Asad Saleem issued the notices to all power companies in the country.

According to the details available, the Section Officer has directed the power companies to disconnect the connections for 50 “running defaulters”. The companies have to disconnect the power of these accused individuals and submit a compliance report by March 6 to the Power Division.
After receiving the notice, LESCO has begun taking action against its major defaulters. A number of defaulters include major factories and workshops, whose connections have now been disconnected.

In December last year, the Power Division had managed to recover PKR 1.368 billion during an anti-theft drive, and had successfully reduced line losses by 1.4%.
