Islamabad: In a recent meeting, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan discussed the further possibilities and limitations concerned with the implementation of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), a news source reported. He acknowledged the range of challenges associated with making good on the government’s promise to provide five million low-cost houses in the next five years. He remarked that the executive was determined to meet the housing shortfall.

The PM said that providing five million houses in five years is an ambitious target because of the lack of necessary infrastructure and development laws. Banks are reluctant to provide mortgage loans because of inefficient foreclosure laws.

The PM was addressing a session of the Pakistan Housing Conference.
The premier reiterated his government’s determination to meet the existing demand of 10 million houses in the country. He said the government is working closely with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the World Bank to resolve implementation challenges.
