Islamabad: The Motorway Police have opened Swat Motorway’s Colonel Sher Khan and Katlang Interchanges for traffic, a news source reported. The whole project is being completed at a cost of PKR 41 billion.
Construction of the motorway had commenced in April 2017 after the then government awarded the contract to the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO). Swat Motorway is one of the two flagship projects of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government; the other being Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The 80-kilometre-long motorway has six planned interchanges. The section linking Swabi and Mardan via Colonel Sher Khan and Katlang interchanges has been completed and opened for traffic.
In September, KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had inaugurated a section of the motorway Zulam Kot near Chakdara. He hoped that the project, expected to be completed by May, would bring about a revolution in the entire division.
