Timergara: Activists from different political parties have welcomed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government’s plan to bifurcate the province’s Malakand division, a news source reported. Political activists in Lower Dir had previously demanded that the provincial government name the proposed new division as Panjkora, with Timergara as its headquarters.
Former Balambat Tehsil Nazim and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan activist Imranuddin, at a media forum, stated that Malakand division should be bifurcated administratively. He added that the new division with name ‘Panjkora’ should include Lower and Upper Dir, Bajaur, Timergara, as well as Lower and Upper Chitral.

Awami National Party (ANP)’s Imran Takur opined that the bifurcation would resolve many problems of the locals and the administration. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) activist Ali Shah Mishwani added that setting up a new division would help boost tourism. He said that several scenic spots including Kumrat Valley, Kalash Valley, Laram Top, Sar Lara, Shahi Bin Shahi, and Broghil were located within the new proposed Panjkora division.
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) District General Secretary Sardar Javed Tajak said that Dir, Bajaur, and Chitral would experience development if the Malakand division became bifurcated. He added that the lawmakers from these districts should take up the issue with KP Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan, who has received the summary for the bifurcation.
