Islamabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan on Wednesday assigned various tasks to all police officials for making the federal capital crime-free, a news source reported. He directed them to ensure the safety of people’s lives via high vigilance.

In this regard, the IGP chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO). He instructed the police officials to take effective policing measures in the city. He also asked them to ensure complete investigations of all pending cases pertaining to dacoities.
Giving directives for a crackdown against criminal elements in Islamabad, the IGP asked to expedite efforts against:
- Street crime
- Illegal land occupation
- At-large criminals
- Bootlegging
IGP Zulfiqar advised the police officials to investigate high-profile criminal cases under their own supervision, visit crime scenes themselves, and remain in contact with victims and complainants. He directed all SPs to curb crime within their respective areas, and take disciplinary actions against police officials not performing duties properly.
During the meeting, the IGP also asked to promote community policing and maintaining decent attitude when interacting with the public. Asking DIG Operations Waqar Uddin Syed to lead all measures for curbing crime, he also gave directives to maintain fool-proof security at mosques, imambargahs, and markets.

The IGP further assigned the Zonal SPs with the task of taking action against car lifters, and SPs Investigation with cordoning of certain areas time to time for conducting random checks. He also ordered for improved patrolling in urban and rural areas of the capital city.
Additionally, IGP Zulfiqar advised all police officials to accomplish all their duties with honesty and professionalism. He also highlighted that cases of corruption would not be tolerated, while good performances would be encouraged and rewarded.
