Islamabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar recently directed the city’s police personnel to remain on high alert and boost security measures around the federal capital — a news source reported. The IGP made these comments while presiding over a meeting through video link on Thursday.

The meeting assessed the general security situation and policing efforts in the city. DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed and other high police officials of the city also joined the meeting. The IGP took the opportunity to instruct DIG Syed to personally observe the security setup in the district.

He further instructed that all the Zonal SPs should personally brief the policemen deputed at security checkpoints on a daily basis. Additionally, he asked that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) formulated to fight the coronavirus spread should also be ensured. Instructions to install security cameras at pickets were also issued, with the IGP ordering that no picket should be operational without CCTV cameras. Finally, the IGP also instructed that all patrolling officers and senior officials should now be required to sign the registers present at the pickets, and mention if the government sanctioned SOPs were being followed or not.
