Peshawar: The Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) – the country’s leading oil and gas production and exploration firm – on Tuesday discovered oil and gas reserves in the Kohat region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to news sources.

In its filing to the bourse, the POL has informed that hydrocarbons have been discovered in an exploratory well ‘Mamikhel South-01’ – which was drilled and is undergoing a testing phase.

After the discovery of oil and gas reserves in the Kohat, the Drill Stem Test (DST) was conducted at the well to test the Lockhart and Hangu formations; the well has tested for over 3,240 barrels of condensate, 16.12 MMSCF of gas and 48 barrels of water each day. Earlier in March, the POL tested hydrocarbons discovered in its Development Well Pindori-10, which is located in Rawalpindi.
