Lahore: The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) is set to refloat the tenders for the operation and maintenance contract of Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) in the next 15 days – a news source reported.
According to sources, the need to refloat tenders arose after the Chief Minister Punjab, reportedly expressed doubts over the previous process.
Most of the work for OLMT has been completed; civil works as well as track laying has been completed through the leg of the project from Dera Gujjran to Ali Town. The project has been handed over to Chinese contractor CR-NORINCO for carrying out electrical and mechanical works as well as for testing and commissioning of the trains for six months.
PMTA was all set earlier to award the contract to a joint venture of Chinese and South Korean firms after it completed the process related to procurement, bidding and evaluation by the end of May. The contract would have been awarded for 11 years.
