Lahore: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday launched the ‘Digital Pakistan’ initiative – a government programme aimed at introducing technology in the country for promoting public welfare, a news source reported. The PM also addressed the inauguration ceremony held in Islamabad.

During his address, the PM stated that the campaign would harness the potential of the country’s youth. He said that it would ease the lives of the citizens. The PM added that the government would make all efforts to promote the ‘Digital Pakistan’ programme.
As per details, the strategic pillars of the programme include digital infrastructure, access & connectivity, innovation, digital skill and literacy, e-governance, and entrepreneurship.
Tania Aidrus, a Pakistani working as a Senior Executive at Google, will head the initiative. She quit her position in Singapore for this purpose. On Twitter, Aidrus expressed her hopes that the prime minister’s vision for the success of ‘Digital Pakistan’ would soon be a reality.

In her tweet, she also thanked PM Khan and Jahangir Khan Tareen for giving her the opportunity to contribute back to her country.
