Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Capital Development Authority (CDA) Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan on Friday (January 8) performed the groundbreaking for the Bhara Kahu Kayani Bridge crossing, a news source reported.

According to the details revealed, the bridge will connect the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) area and the Kayani Road (from the Bhara Kahu Chowk) following its completion. At present, commuters use a makeshift bridge constructed by the civic agency some four decades ago.
Commenting on the occasion, Awan said that the authorities concerned had launched several uplift projects in rural areas of the capital city to bring them on a par with the developed localities; adding that a permanent crossing had a been a long-standing demand of the locals.

He further stated that he had overseen the launch of several important projects for Bhara Kahu including the construction of a playground, reservation of graveyard land and its up-gradation, and the rehabilitation of roads.
