Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has urged the business community of the country to play its role in economic development, a news source reported. The PM held a meeting with a delegation of reputed businessmen and industrialists recently. He assured them that the government was taking all possible measures to facilitate the business community.

During the meeting, the attending industrialists suggested their incorporation in the upcoming annual budget 2019-20. Meanwhile, PM Khan added that the government has prioritised bringing ease of doing business. He said that the aim of frequent meetings with the business community is to earn their trust.
The PM added that Pakistan can only attract investors if government brings ease of doing business. He added that incoming investors will improve the national economy. He said that the government aims to make the country’s export products competitive in relation to the quality and price of products in the international market.
PM Khan told the delegation that the government will devise trade and industrial policies through consultation with the business community order eliminate impediments and resolve issues faced by them.

The PM also urged the business community to take advantage of the government’s amnesty scheme. He added that the government is in process of bringing reforms in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to regain the business community’s trust in regards to the tax collection system.
