Quetta: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan is set to visit Gwadar next month — and is expected to announce a special developmental package for southern Balochistan during the trip, according to a news source published on September 15.

The PM had paid a visit to Quetta two days ago, where he was accompanied by Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar. While PM Khan had left after a short trip, the planning minister had stayed in the city in order to consult with the relevant stakeholders on the aforementioned package for southern Balochistan. As per the official sources, the said package is expected to be worth around PKR 150 billion and will encompass the newly merged tribal districts as well.
Additionally, Minister Umar and Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal visited Turbat on Monday. On the occasion, the planning minster stated that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project would change the fate of not only Pakistan, but the entire Asian region. He added that once the CPEC initiative had been completed, it would bring peace and prosperity to Balochistan.

Regarding the Balochistan package, Minister Umar said that the present administration had been taking all the necessary measures to encourage development in the previously neglected province. He added that the government was also seeking to resolve the various issues faced by the people of Makran, and to provide them with the maximum employment opportunities.
Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani further revealed that the planning minister was visiting the Markran division in order to consult the authorities concerned regarding the special package being prepared for the province.
