Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan is expected to inaugurate the government’s cash disbursal program formulated to provide monetary assistance to unemployed individuals and workers worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic later today (May 18) — with the move forming part of the Ehsaas Emergency Cash initiative, according to news sources. The premiere will arrive at the Ehsaas camp to offer cash handouts to the first, selected, batch of the afflicted.

The PM’s office has revealed that it has received over 3.4 million applications from jobless individuals through its Ehsaas Labour Portal. Over PKR 3 billion has been collected for the PM’s COVID-19 Relief Fund and the pledges are still forthcoming.
The Ehsaas Labour Portal was launched on May 2, and it enabled people whose livelihoods had been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to receive monetary assistance under the Ehsaas Emergency Cash program.’

The PM Office has declared that all tehsil level bank disbursements and withdrawals will be made a part of the public record, including the transactions made under the Ehsaas Emergency Cash program.
