Islamabad: Officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) have said that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan is expected to perform the groundbreaking for three road infrastructure projects in the capital city on June 30, a news source reported.

Khan issued instructions for early completion of the projects that include Rawal Dam Interchange, Korang Bridge and the PWD Underpass on Islamabad Expressway. The construction of the PWD underpass will render the Express Highway of the capital to be a signal-free corridor. The contract for these projects in Islamabad was awarded to the joint venture of Maqbool Associates and Calson.
CDA Planning and Engineering Member Shahid Mehmood said that the joint venture would also see to the legal and other formalities, upon the projects’ completion. He also that the extension of the Rawal Dam Interchange was needed to ease the congestion on Park and Murree Roads.

Reportedly, the joint venture of Maqbool Associates and Calson won the contract by bidding 11%, 17% and 19% for the Rawal Dam Interchange, Korang Bridge and PWD Underpass, respectively.
Meanwhile, the development authority is currently working to complete the underpass connecting Sector G-7 and Sector G-8 on Faisal Avenue.
