Islamabad: The Prime Minister (PM) will inaugurate Sindh’s first ever motorway project next month, according to a news report. The Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M9) has been built according to highest international standards and will help regulate traffic on one of the busiest road networks of Pakistan.
More than 30,000 vehicles will travel between Karachi and Hyderabad as they head South towards other regions of the country. These will also include cargo traffic from ports of Karachi and Bin Qasim. The project was initially launched on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis and the contract was awarded to Frontier Works Organization (FWO). According to the agreement, the old 136 km long 4-lane expressway was converted into a 6-lane motorway.
