Lahore: Punjab Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal has revealed that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will inaugurate the Allama Iqbal Industrial City in Faisalabad on January 3, according to news sources.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar’s ‘Hunarmand Nojawan Programme’ at the Expo Centre in Lahore on Saturday. He said that Punjab was the first province to establish two private Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and five SEZs in the public sector.

He also revealed that the provincial government had secured foreign investments worth USD 2 billion for the establishment of various industrial estates in Faisalabad. Moreover, he said that industries of USD 1 billion had been established and agreements of another USD 1 billion had been inked with foreign firms.
Further, he stated that under the Punjab Growth Strategy 2023, a target has been set to provide technical education to 2.5 million children and under this initiative, the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) would impart technical training to 875, 000 students.

He said that TEVTA train 90,000 students each year and will train an additional 100,000 students annually under the government’s ‘Hunarmand Nojawan Programme’.
