Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, during a visit to Karachi on Friday, is expected to announce a major package aimed at resolving the city’s flood related problems, according to a news source published on September 2.

As per the details available, the federal cabinet recently deliberated on key national matters, including the ongoing extraordinary rain spells in the country — with special focus on Karachi’s flood-situation.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz briefed the media after the cabinet session, and revealed that the PM had expressed his concerns over Karachi’s current situation. In addition, PM Khan also took the opportunity to direct the authorities concerned to resolve the prevailing rain situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Minister Faraz further revealed that a relief package for Karachi and a special plan had been devised – in order to deal with issues related to the tanker mafia, transport, sewerage, and solid waste management. However, he added that these problems could only be resolved with the Sindh government’s cooperation.
Meanwhile, the PM has also sought a Karachi Transformation Plan this week. This is expected to act as a roadmap to resolve the major civic woes faced by the people of Karachi.
