Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to stop harassing businessmen who availed the amnesty scheme, a news source reported.
According to details, the directive orders the federal agencies that businessmen who availed income tax amnesty scheme, and completed all codal formalities, must not be harassed by them. According to sources, there had been complaints that the FBR’s large taxpayer’s units (LTUs) and regional taxpayers’ units (RTUs) were issuing tax notices to those who had availed the tax amnesty scheme the previous year.
Assets worth PKR 6,000 billion have been declared under the amnesty scheme. It was expected that a large amount of the money brought into the tax net will be invested in real estate.
The people availing the amnesty scheme have been assured of no action under any law in the country.
