Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday said in a tweet that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Pakistan Army have been tasked to take immediate relief steps and clean up the city in the aftermath of the monsoon rains, according to the news sources.

Reportedly, the PM has also directed the NDMA to present a detailed review report on the situation of rainwater nullahs in Karachi. He also asked the Sindh Governor Imran Ismail to coordinate between provincial and the central governments to address the problems faced by the people of Karachi – especially the urban-flood issues being face by Karachi dwellers owing to the drainage system’s dilapidated condition.

During the meeting, Khan also reassured Ismail that the federal government will not ‘abandon’ the people of Karachi and would contribute the best possible efforts to provide relief to the people.
