Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday has ordered the immediate constitution of a task force on climate change to develop a strategy to mitigate the intense climate changes in Pakistan, according to news sources.

Reportedly, the premier made the decision during an emergency meeting held to discuss the recent heatwave and the adverse effects of climate change. The unprecedented rise in temperatures in the cities of Pakistan has caused water, power and agricultural crises in the country.
The new task force will work to preserve the climate, take measures to prevent food/water shortages, conserve water and green areas, and protect existing sources.

It was reported that the task force on climate change will include the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chairman, relevant ministers, secretaries, provincial chief secretaries, relevant provincial secretaries, and senior officials of other agencies.
