Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will launch the New Uraan Pakistan National Economic Transformation Plan 2024-2029, according to a news source on December 11.

The plan targets expanding the economy from USD 374 billion to USD 1 trillion by 2035, with annual growth projected at 9.8%. Key goals include increasing literacy rates to 70%, reducing poverty by 13%, and achieving USD 60 billion in exports by 2029, including an annual USD 5 billion boost in IT exports.
Other initiatives include establishing 100 software technology parks, reducing subsidies, eliminating circular debt, and cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 50%. The multi-billion-dollar ML-1 railway project, supported by Chinese financing, will increase freight transport by 25% and improve passenger train services by 15%.

Centred on the 5Es framework – exports, energy, infrastructure, environment, and empowerment – the plan reflects extensive consultations with public and private stakeholders.
