Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday sought a roadmap within two weeks for the promotion of small & medium enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan, a news source reported. For this end, he tasked the Ministry of Industries & Production to prepare a workable framework within the provided timeline.

Presiding over a meeting of the National Coordination Committee for SMEs, he directed the officials concerned to resolve all hurdles impeding the development of the SME sector in Pakistan. He further asked them to adopt international best practices for providing facilities and incentives to local businesses.
Moreover, he highlighted that the incumbent government was prioritising the facilitation of small business owners. During the meeting, the officials concerned also briefed PM Khan on the SME Policy 2020.

In August, the government had constituted the National Coordination Committee for the development of small & medium enterprises in the country. Federal Minister for Industries & Production Hammad Azhar had been tasked with heading the committee.
