Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran khan has directed the Board of Investment chairman to share a plan for fast-track development of special economic zones in the country, reported a news source. He issued the orders while presiding over a meeting held to review progress of the projects launched under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

PM Khan also stressed on the need for an early completion of CPEC projects for pulling people out of poverty. He received a briefing on the progress of these projects. Addressing the meeting, Khan said that the early completion of CPEC projects will pave the way for an influx of socio-economic opportunities in the country.

Khan gave instructions to speed up development work on Gwadar Port and other infrastructural projects. The meeting also decided to form a CPEC Business Advisory Council.

In a Public Accounts Committee meeting held earlier this month, it was revealed that seven power projects have been completed under CPEC. These projects will produce 3,340-megawatts of electricity. Furthermore, 13 projects were under various stages of completion.
