Lahore: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan stated on Wednesday (August 25) that once completed, the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project will generate USD 40 billion in yearly revenue, news sources reported.

The prime minister made these remarks while speaking during the Smart Forest plantation event at Rakh Jhok, near Sheikhupura. The ceremony was attended by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar, as well as other provincial ministers and secretaries. On the occasion, the Premier stated that the project would not only solve Lahore’s economic needs but will also help to stabilise the country’s economy by creating employment and providing environmental advantages.

While shedding light on the smart forest project, he stated that the smart forest would be monitored by Huawei Technologies for economic growth and to prevent unlawful tree cutting. The Riverfront project will include the planting of 10 million trees as well as the construction of three river barrages. In addition, filtration plants will ensure that the public has access to clean water. Similarly, the project will prevent the flow of wastewater from seeping into the Ravi, affecting the people along the Indus.
