Islamabad: During a meeting held on Monday, Prime Minster (PM) Imran Khan reviewed the proposals for the development of Islamabad’s New Blue Area and Bundal Island, Karachi – a news source reported.

Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Zubair Gilani, Naya Pakistan Housing Authority (NPHA) Chairman Lt General (retired) Anwar Ali Hyder, Special Assistant to the PM on Information & Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, and several senior were all present at the occasion.
The meeting held a detailed discussion on the development of the Blue Area. The attendees discussed the plans aimed at offering incentives to foreign investors who, in response, could develop under-utilised areas. They opined that there was a need to concentrate on the development of high-rise buildings in order to address the issue of lateral expansion of Islamabad.
The meeting also discussed a detailed plan for the prospective developments of different areas in Karachi and the islands falling within Port Qasim’s jurisdiction. The officials concerned presented a phased development plan to PM Khan. It aimed to provide quality housing and better opportunities for individuals ready to invest in Pakistan.

The PM shared his comments on the proposals stating that the relevant authorities should prioritise high-rises constructions in order to meet the growing housing needs. He added that for this purpose, they needed to offer better facilities to foreign investors interested in implementing development projects in Pakistan.
