Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday stated that he is resolved to pursue the policy of “make in Pakistan” and promote the local industries and so that people depend on local products that will curtail import bill, according to news sources.

Khan expressed these sentiments while addressing a meeting with a delegation of leading exporters related to various industrial sectors. He said that the government is aggressively pursuing ‘Make in Pakistan’ policy to encourage export-led industrialisation in Pakistan – through numerous interventions, particularly related to promoting ‘ease-of-doing-business’.
Furthermore, the PM acknowledged the critical role of exports in the economy that includes the creation of employment opportunities for the young workforce. He said the government is working to extend all possible facilities to the export community and remove all impediments to enhance exports of goods and services. He stressed on encouraging the services-related exports ‘with greater facilitation and provision of an enabling environment’.

Moreover, he said that the government has either reduced or eliminated duties on hundreds of tariff lines related to raw materials to make local markets competitive. In response, the exporters appreciated the government-led initiative and presented their suggestion for industrial growth in the country.
