Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan chaired a meeting on Monday (August 16) to devise a systematic plan to deal with encroachments in Islamabad and stressed the need for formation of a single regulatory body to handle the implementation of building bylaws in the capital city, according to news sources. The PM also stressed on the need of modern technology such as drone monitory to prevent encroachments.

The meeting was attended by Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed, Special Assistant for CDA Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan, MNA Raja Khurram Nawaz, Planning Minister Asad Umar, and other higher-ups. The CDA Chairman stated that the reason behind encroachments was the lack of a single regulatory framework, which is, currently, divided among Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Registrar Societies, and the CDA.
The meeting also discussed the green and clean environment initiative. PM asked the city administration to provide incentives to ensure maximum participation of locals in order to protect the green areas under the tree plantation drive.

Moreover, PM Imran Khan disclosed that the government was focused on increasing exports of information technology products. In a meeting with Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) Chairman Amir Hashmi, the prime minister discussed the establishment progress of Islamabad Technopolis, a special technology zone of Islamabad. Once the technology zone in Islamabad completes, a special technology zone will be established in all provincial capitals.
