Chairing a meeting to this effect, the PM directed the authorities concerned on timely issuance of funds for the infrastructure development in the merged tribal districts. The meeting discussed the implementation of the wheeling regime within the power sector, payments of net hydel profits, proposed amendment in the power sector policy 2015, provincial representation within the departments concerned of the energy sector, and matters related to the Chashma Right Bank Canal project.
On the issue of the wheeling regime, PM Khan ordered the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to resolve the issues of its implementation at the earliest in consultation with the stakeholders.
He stressed the representation of the provinces in the boards of directors of the institutions concerned within the power sector. Furthermore, the PM asked for finalising the procedure on payments of net hydel profits. To this effect, he issued orders to the ministries of energy and finance, along with the KP government and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). For the amendment in the Power Policy 2015, he said that the Cabinet Committee on Energy should consider the matter.
