Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and 200 other residents of the Bani Gala area have submitted applications to Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the regularisation of their residences, a news source reported. Supreme Court had previously directed the residents to do so.
The PM submitted the documentation of his property and a map of the residence to CDA’s one-window officer. The applications were submitted after CDA started regularising the illegal construction in Bani Gala, which forms a part of Islamabad’s Zone IV.
CDA has also set a fine of PKR 100 per square feet for regularisation of private residences, while the commercial buildings will have to PKR 200 per sq. ft. PKR 3,500 per sq. ft. will also have to be paid as development charges for commercial land.
It had been Imran Khan himself who had moved the Supreme Court against illegal construction and encroachments in May 2017. The regularisation is expected to bring billions of rupees in regularisation fee.
