Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday directed the officials concerned to consult the country’s banking institutions for provisioning the financial resources required for developing housing projects under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), a news source reported.

To this effect, the PM chaired a meeting to review progress on the construction of low-cost houses in the country. He revealed that the government was providing PKR 30 billion for completing the NPHP project in order to create employment opportunities and provide housing to the society’s low-income groups.
During the meeting, PM Khan ordered the NPHP think tank to consult commercial banks for finalising its recommendations to ensure availability of financial resources for NPHP housing projects.

He also directed the Naya Pakistan Housing Authority (NPHA) to constitute a special cell for facilitating coordination and expediting resolution of construction-related issues. He added that this cell should include representatives from the relevant ministries, provincial departments, provincial governments, and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
