Lahore: The Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Monday (December 13) launched the Naya Pakistan Sehat Card programme for all the citizens of Punjab province, news sources reported. The PKR 440 billion project would be executed in three years on health care facilities.

According to reports, the project will provide PKR 1 million in annual health insurance to every family in the province beginning in January 2022. In this context, funds will be allocated for the construction of hospitals and healthcare infrastructure in the province’s backward and remote districts to make it more inclusive. The PM also stated that the government will implement a “Ration Card” plan for impoverished households in Pakistan with a monthly income of less than PKR 50,000. To promote food security, the plan would provide a 30% discount on food staples such as flour and pulses.

On the occasion, Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid stated that the government has built nine new hospitals in the previous three years, strengthening the province’s healthcare system. She also added that more programmes are in the pipeline to expand healthcare coverage.
