Peshawar: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday (December 08) launched its flagship mega-welfare project Naya Pakistan Card initiative, news sources reported. The project will now serve as an umbrella initiative that will cover a wide variety of health, education, food and agriculture projects.

According to the details, the premier also stated that the government would soon launch the Kamyab Pakistan scheme, which will provide a low-interest housing loan of up to PKR 2.7 million and an interest-free loan of up to PKR 400,000 to approximately 2 million families. Scholarships would also be provided to 6.3 million students across the country under the plan. A monitoring cell has already been established in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for this purpose. Similarly, the Ehsaas Ration programme will be covered under the Naya Pakistan Card as part of the food security strategy during COVID-19. Households with a monthly income of less than PKR 50,000 would be eligible for a subsidy on consumable basic items under the plan.

Furthermore, the premier stated that the government intends to expand similar programmes to additional provinces within the next three months. He also announced the construction of 10 dams in the province to fortify water security for future generations.
