Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan recently launched a ‘Financial Inclusion Strategy’ initiative under the government’s ‘Ehsaas’ poverty alleviation programme, according to news sources. As per officials, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development were also present at the event.
The PM said that the government was pursuing policies as part of various initiatives launched by Ehsaas with an aim to aid the society’s low-income groups. He said that Ehsaas campaign ‘is devised with compassion at its heart’.
Queen Maxima also addressed the assembly and declared financial inclusion was vital to offer sustenance to the poor. She opined that the provision of education to children and job opportunities creation would eventually lead to the economic stability of the country. She asked for women (especially those residing in rural setting) to familiarise themselves with financial technology.

The Queen holds her designation with the United Nations since 2009 and works actively to encourage access to financial services of low-income groups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to increase their socio-economic opportunities.

Further, Special Assistant to the PM on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Dr Sania Nishtar apprised the event attendees of the Ehsaas Programme details.
