Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday launched the ‘Ehsaas Rashan’ portal facility in a bid to help connect beneficiaries and donors across the country amid the ongoing lockdown, a news source reported.

The portal is aimed at facilitating the private sector in charity work, in addition to implementing efficient match-making between beneficiaries and donors on a geographic basis. It is designed to provide donors with the data of eligible beneficiaries.

A spokesperson for the initiative said that many private organisations had expressed their intent to help the needy and deserving families and complement the efforts of the government during these trying times. The portal is designed to coordinate the charity work and generosity of the private sector across the country, the spokesperson added.

He further stated that the facility would enable charity organisations, philanthropists, and other non-government organisations (NGOs) to provide food ration to the deserving people during the COVID-19 crisis.

Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the PM on Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar said that the portal would render the ration distribution transparent. She said that the utility would validate the data of beneficiaries while connecting it with the Ehsaas data.
She further stated that the donors would sign data privacy agreements in order to get access to the information of the beneficiaries.
