Peshawar: Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan at Torkham today, according to the news sources.
The news was confirmed by the provincial government’s spokesperson Ajmal Wazir Khan, who said that opening the border will promote bilateral trade, and support the economic growth of both countries.

This border has been open 24-hours on a trial basis since September 2.
The sources reported that governments on both sides of the border have increased the number of counters to over 20, and appointed additional officials to facilitate trade activities around the clock.

A few days earlier, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing lauded the border opening. He revealed that Beijing was ready to build a cold storage, as well as other facilities in the Torkham area, to encourage trade and commerce in this region. He expressed hope that this step will have a positive impact on the future of trade in Asia.
