Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan recently approved the restructuring of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and directed the officials concerned to present a plan to this effect before the cabinet for review – according to news sources.
As per officials, the overhaul aims to introduce effective corporate governance model in the organisation and make the development authority even more efficient in its performance and service delivery. To facilitate this measure, the government wants to include private officials in the CDA board. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had already ruled in 2017 for the civic agency to use a competitive process to set up its board in accordance with the CDA Ordinance 1960.
