Karachi: Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives Minister Asad Umer on Sunday informed media persons that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan would inaugurate new flyovers in Karachi soon, a news source reported. As per the publication, the minister revealed this information during a visit to the project site; where he was accompanied by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar, and other senior officials.

The officials concerned briefed Minister Umar about the progress and development of the three proposed flyovers. Reportedly, the flyovers are being built at Sakhi Hasan Chowrangi, KDA Chowrangi, and Five Star Chowrangi — at an estimated cost of PKR 2.3 billion.

Previously, the foundation stone for the project had been laid in October 2018. At this time, the flyovers had been expected to be completed by March 2019.

At the occasion, the minister stated that PM Imran Khan was expected to visit the city soon, to officially inaugurate all three flyovers for public transport. He further added that the repair work required on the service roads near the flyovers was also currently under development.
