Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will break ground for rehabilitation of Balkasar to Mianwali and Mianwali to Muzaffargarh road project on Saturday (December 11), according to news published on Thursday (December 9).

As per the details, the total length of the road project is 415 kilometres; 286-kilometres from Mianwali to Muzaffargarh and 129-kilometres from Balkasar to Mianwali. The National Highway Authority (NHA) will oversee the rehabilitation of the roads at the cost of PKR 13.8 billion. The project is being executed under Public-Private Partnership mode. The federal government will provide PKR 12.4 billion whereas PKR 1.38 billion will be contributed by NHA through a road maintenance account.
Moreover, the project is expected to be completed within 12 months. It was disclosed that the project is divided into 10 parts of 40-kilometre each to ensure timely completion. Technical bids for the road project is under evaluation and after it is finalised, the financial bids will be opened.

Reportedly, PM Khan is expected to inaugurate Hakla-Dera Ismail (D.I.) Khan Motorway on Monday (December 13). It is a part of the western alignment of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Sharing details about the project, the four-lane north-south motorway will start from Hakla on Peshawar-Islamabad (M-1) near Fateh Jang interchange and will terminate at Yarik near D.I. Khan. This project will reduce travelling time from five hours to two and a half hours.
