Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan announced special waivers for Sikh pilgrims using the Kartarpur Corridor to cross from India to Pakistan, according to a news source. The PM made this announcement via Twitter on Friday.
He revealed that two previous conditions that were imposed on tourists from across the border would be waived for the Sikh community. The first condition was that the Sikh pilgrims would no longer require a passport to use the corridor. Instead, any valid photographic identification will be accepted. Previously, a passport was deemed necessary to travel through the Kartarpur Corridor.

Secondly, PM Khan announced that the condition for pilgrims to register themselves with the proper authorities 10 days prior to visiting Kartarpur Shrine would also be waived. This had been part of the conditions shared earlier last month and agreed upon at the signing of the Kartarpur Corridor Agreement.
Additionally, he stated that Sikh pilgrims visiting on the day of Kartarpur Corridor’s opening would not be charged any fees. The same facility can be enjoyed by pilgrims visiting on the day of Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary.
