Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan recently performed the ground-breaking of the federal government’s prefabricated housing project in the capital city, a news source reported. Under this initiative, the government aims to expedite the provision of affordable housing facilities to low-income groups.
In his address to the event attendees, PM said Khan that the executive would launch similar projects in both Lahore and Karachi. He added that a majority of the country’s populace had to reside temporary accommodations because of the expensive land rates and high property prices.

Moreover, he said that the government had contracted the services of the Henan DR Construction Group (a Chinese firm) for setting up a modular housing factory at the M-3 Special Economic Zone (SEZ). These houses can be set up in three to four months, he added.
He also opined that the government considered the development of housing, export, and agriculture sectors its top priority. Highlighting the agricultural productivity increase in the country, he said that this enhanced organic produce would boost economic growth and any increase in exports will improve foreign exchange reserves.

The PM assured the participants that the Board of Investment (BOI), the Ministry of Commerce and other concerned bodies were taking steps to simplify the investment procedures in order to facilitate the business community.
